Who we are

This website is operated by The Global Situation Room, Inc. ("GSR", "we", "us"), a public affairs and counter-crisis communications firm based in Washington, DC. You can reach us at gsr@globalsitroom.com.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you subscribe to Index releases and GSR news, we collect the email address you enter and the page you signed up from. When you write to us by email, we keep the correspondence.

Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of request) to operate and secure the site. We do not run advertising trackers.

Embedded content. Some pages embed video players from YouTube (served from youtube-nocookie.com) and link to podcast platforms. Those providers may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies when you play a video or follow a link.

Weather widget. The home page shows the current time and weather in Washington, DC. That request is made from our server to a weather data provider and includes no information about you.

How we use it

• To send you the newsletters and Index briefings you asked for.
• To answer your enquiries.
• To operate, secure and improve the website.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Cookies

The site itself does not use cookies for tracking. Your browser may store small preferences locally (for example, a dismissed notice) that never leave your device. Embedded YouTube players may set cookies only when you play a video.

Your choices

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing gsr@globalsitroom.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act; we honour those requests.

Retention and security

We keep subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and correspondence for as long as needed to handle the matter. We use reputable providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold.

Children

This site is intended for business audiences and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
